Make paper bunting - Kids Activity

I make beautiful, high-quality fabric bunting for children's bedrooms. I thought it would be fun one day for my three-year-old daughter to emulate mummy and make some paper bunting. She's so proud of her bunting - it's hanging over her bed now. This is a great activity to do with a creative pre-schooler.

how to make paper buntingWhat you'll need
  • Several pieces of coloured A4 paper
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • String
  • Hole punch
  • Things to decorate the bunting e.g. sticker, felt-pens, crayons, glitter. Whatever you've got in the house.
What to do...
  1. Take a piece of A4 paper. Mark the centre of one of the short sides either by measuring it or by folding. Use the ruler to draw a straight line from the top corners to the centre point at the bottom to make a triangle shape.
  2. Cut along the straight lines. You can do this, or your little-one can, depending on how good they are with a pair of scissors (mine adores cutting!).
  3. Hand over the triangle to your little one to decorate how they see fit.
  4. Use the hole punch to put holes in the short side of the pendant.
  5. Make as many pendants as you want to. When they are all done thread them onto a length of string. You can do this yourself or get your child to help - depending on how good their fine motor skills are.
  6. Hang in pride of place! If you don't want to knock nails into the wall you could try command hooks - they're great for hanging loads of things on the wall and don't mark the paint work.
Haven't got time to do this now? Pin it to Pinterest to save for later...
